Santa Claus is a thriving and active community in Southern Indiana. Home to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, America’s oldest and according to all sorts of surveys, best, theme park. Other Christmas themed attractions in the area include the Santa Claus Museum, Santa’s Candy Castle and Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort. Nearby you will find Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, the home of Abraham Lincoln from from 1816 to 1830. Living in Santa Claus is living with Christmas every day. We live in a subdivision called Christmas Lake Village, where there are streets named after eight raindeer, the three kings and just about every other Christmas related word you could think of. In early December we go all out for a Festival of Lights, but most of us keep a few Christmas decorations up year round. A volunteer group called Santa’s Elves spends long hours during the Christmas season answering the Christmas letters that come from children around the world. It is not unusual to see Santa around town. We see him at the post office or the gas station at least once a week. Dressed in red with a round belly and a real white beard, he drives a van when not in his reindeer drawn sleigh. |
